PDO THREAD LIFT
Non-Surgical Skin Tightening with PDO Threads
MINT stands for Minimally Invasive Non-surgical Thread. These threads are placed under the skin and are designed to pull back sagging tissue in the face and neck. A thread lift is a great option if you are interested in a facelift but do not want to undergo invasive surgery. Dr. Afzal is the regional trainer for MINT PDO threads. In his experienced hands patients can get the look they are seeking without the unwanted downtime. Thread lifts can be done at our Edina and Minneapolis locations.
What happens during your Thread lift visit?
Dr Afzal explains
A PDO Thread Lift is a minimally invasive procedure performed in the office using PDO (Polydioxanone) biodegradable threads. PDO threads are delicately placed beneath the dermis to secure and lift sagging skin, promote collagen production, and achieve a tighter contour in the treated area.
Dr Afzal has placed more than 3000 barbed threads over more than five years. He has trained with Dr. Mir in Manhattan, Dr. Chueng in Chicago, Dr. TJ Tsy, and Dr. Kwok (Dr. Guns and Needles) in California and has even traveled to Korea for training. Besides training other providers on performing threads at his Edina office, Dr Afzal is a speaker at various conferences around the country, sharing his experience and educating other providers.
Polydioxanone is a material that has been used safely in orthopedics, cardiovascular surgery, tissue engineering, and plastic surgery for years. The body breaks down polydioxanone naturally and exhales it through the urine or carbon dioxide.
In our office, a PDO Thread Lift is used to lift the brows, cheeks, jowls, and neck. We also use PDO threads for a sharper nose bridge and to lift the sagging skin of the neck. We also use threads for leg lifts and to improve the belly button.
The thread lift is a convenient, effective alternative to a facelift, especially for patients who do not yet wish to or need to receive a more invasive skin tightening procedure, like a facelift.
Thread lift helps restore the skin to a tighter, more youthful position. Unlike a facelift, the Thread Lift procedure is quick, minimally invasive, customizable, costs a lot less money, and requires almost no recovery time for the patient!
Results will last between 18 months to three years. After this point, patients can extend their results with a subsequent PDO Thread Lift.
When the PDO threads are introduced, they stimulate the production of collagen within the skin. Thanks to the added collagen and new healing process, your skin will form to the new position created by the threads. Improvements will be visible immediately, and the final results will be seen in four weeks.
A PDO Thread Lift is sometimes called a lunch lift because it takes as much time to perform as having lunch.

FAQ's
What are PDO thread lifts?
PDO thread lifts use tiny, biodegradable threads made of polydioxanone to lift and tighten aging skin. These threads tighten your skin from beneath it, stimulating collagen and elastin production without surgery.

Are PDO thread lifts right for me?
To find out if you’re a candidate for PDO thread lifts at Afzal Clinics, your provider reviews your medical history and desired outcome with you. They also examine the skin on your face and body containing unwelcome signs of aging, such as lax skin and wrinkles. Your specialist then personalizes each treatment to give you the best possible results.
What happens during mint thread lift?
Right before thread lift procedures, your Afzal Clinics specialist numbs the treatment area to ensure you avoid discomfort. They move PDO threads underneath your skin in targeted areas to lift and tighten it, before securing the threads in place.
What should I expect after PDO thread lifts?
After undergoing a PDO thread lift, you can resume a normal daily routine. However, you can expect some redness, swelling, and tenderness at the site of treatment. Ice the area, if needed, and take over-the-counter medicine to reduce any discomfort as the numbing wears off.
Over time, as your body generates new cells and the swelling goes down, you will notice the final results. Your body eventually absorbs the biocompatible threads and you can undergo repeat procedures in the future if necessary to maintain younger-looking results long term.
