Treating varicose and spider veins can significantly improve your quality of life, but dealing with insurance can be a hassle, and you may have trouble knowing which doctor to go to. Most insurance policies only cover varicose vein treatment if you are displaying symptoms, and spider veins are considered to be a cosmetic issue. At Afzal Clinics, we want to help you through every step of the process.
Navigating the Insurance Maze
Dealing with all of the ins and outs of your insurance can be a frustrating experience. However, there are a couple of questions you should ask any physician when you are seeking varicose vein treatment.
How much will my varicose vein treatment cost?
If they cannot give you an answer, you should find another doctor. Generally, the cost depends on factors that include your deductible, out-of-pocket maximum, and coinsurance. The cost also depends on which treatments are covered and which ones are not.
Will my spider veins get better after treatment?
If the doctor says that your spider veins will not improve, then you also need to ask how much it will cost to treat them in addition to your varicose veins. Again, if they cannot give you a clear answer, find another doctor.
Medical care is expensive, and you need more than a ballpark figure. You should be able to get a quote that is as close to the exact cost as possible (within $200 of the final cost).
We do things differently at Afzal Clinics. When you come to our clinic, we discuss your medical and cosmetic goals and develop a specific treatment plan to help you reach them.

How Our Patient Care Coordinator Can Help
Our patient care coordinator, Connie, has over 27 years of experience working in all aspects of the clinic setting, from scheduling and billing to accounting and insurance. She loves being part of a team that works to improve the quality of life for our patients. Connie has worked in the insurance part of the industry for many years. She specializes in:
- High deductible plans: The new upcoming plans for insurance are either too expensive or have high deductibles. In many cases, we can offer cash prices that keep the cost low while still following guidelines based on Medicare/Medicaid rules and our insurance contracts.
- HSA plans: This is an excellent option for patients who have high deductibles. Connie helps navigate the HSA accounts before treatment.
- In-house financing and CareCredit®: We do offer in-house financing for medical treatment. For cosmetic treatments, we offer financing through CareCredit®.
At Afzal Clinics, we strive to give our patients the best experience possible from their initial consultation to the end of their treatment plan.
