At Afzal Clinics, we make your PDO thread lift experience simple and comfortable. Led by Dr. Kamran Afzal, we’ve performed thousands of thread lifts, ensuring that every patient gets personalized care throughout the process. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of what happens during your consultation and treatment:
1. Consultation & Paperwork
Your visit begins with filling out the necessary registration and consent forms, all of which can be done conveniently on an iPad. If this is your first time considering a thread lift, the consent form will be signed after discussing the procedure and your expectations with Dr. Afzal.
2. Discussing Your Desired Results
Once you’re in the treatment room, Dr. Afzal will sit with you, show you a mirror, and listen carefully to your desired results. He will then assess your facial structure to ensure that the treatment will meet your goals. Together, you will discuss the best approach for your PDO thread lift.
3. Marking the Vectors
To prepare for the treatment, Dr. Afzal will mark specific areas of your face, determining where the threads will be placed to achieve the desired lift. For example, if you’re looking to lift your nasolabial folds, the markings will be placed accordingly to align with the threads’ direction of lift.
4. Numbing & Thread Placement
Next, you will be asked to recline in a comfortable chair. Dr. Afzal will inject Lidocaine into the treatment area to ensure you remain pain-free during the procedure. After allowing about 10 minutes for the numbing to take effect, he will choose the most suitable threads for your treatment.
5. Insertion of the Threads
Dr. Afzal will create a small hole using an 18-gauge needle where the thread will be inserted. The thread is contained inside a cannula, so as the cannula is guided into the skin, the thread follows it and stays in place once the cannula is removed. This is how the lifting effect occurs.
6. Finishing Touches & Aftercare
Once the threads are in place, Dr. Afzal will trim any excess thread, leaving the threads embedded under your skin. The treatment area will be covered with round bandages, which can be removed after about 3-4 hours.
7. Bruising & Aftercare
Bruising is uncommon, but in Dr. Afzal’s years of experience, there have been occasional instances. The procedure is generally safe, and most patients experience little to no bruising.
