FAQ's
BroadBand Light (BBL) is a treatment for the skin that uses a specific type of light called intense pulsed light (IPL) to rejuvenate your skin. Similar to a camera flash, IPL looks like bright, white, scattered flashes. Many of these light pulses happen in a row, and the energy from them penetrates into the deepest layers of the skin for an intense transformation.
The light from a BBL device can break down pigment particles in the skin that are the cause of hyperpigmentation, age spots, and other discolored blemishes. This energy also reinvigorates your skin to slow down the aging process that causes wrinkles and fine lines. The light closes off any broken blood vessels near the surface of the skin, too.
Put simply, Broad Band Light clears the skin of blemishes that affect its even tone. It can also address a few textural issues, too. Your skin looks more youthful by the end of treatment, and many of the results are immediate.
Your BBL treatments at Afzal Clinics can eradicate or minimize:
- Rosacea
- Acne
- Redness
- Fine lines
- Age spots
- Sun damage
- Broken blood vessels
BBL is safe for lighter skin tones because melanin, the pigment in skin, absorbs the energy and can burn as a result. BBL on darker skin can also lead to reverse effects like increased hyperpigmentation or scarring. If BBL isn’t the best option for you for any reason, the team at Afzal Clinics can direct you to a more suitable option.
You’ll most likely need a few sessions of BBL at Afzal Clinics to get ideal results, but you’ll see a difference after each treatment. Each session takes about 15 minutes, which is short compared to other light-based therapies for the skin because the light can treat large areas of skin all at once. Each session takes about 45 minutes. We make the procedure comfortable and luxurious.
When you first come in for a BBL treatment, the team cleanses your skin and gives you protective eyewear to use during the procedure. They pass the light over your skin multiple times, and your body naturally repairs any minor damage the light causes. You may feel some heat or a snapping sensation, but most find it tolerable.
Once your treatment is finished, your provider applies a cool soothing gel to the skin and may apply sunscreen for added protection for your sensitive skin.
